Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 33A1 Hand Vac Review

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser vacuum is designed specifically to pick up pet hair. It is also handy for getting into places you can’t with a regular vacuum. It has two well-designed nozzles to address different tasks. The flexible rubber contour one is great for use on soft surfaces. Use this for furniture, and stairs. The other nozzle is hard plastic. It is meant for picking up messes in places like the inside of a car or on a hardwood floor. Either way, they switch out easily with pressure applied to the nozzle release button. They both snap securely in place when in use.

This is an extremely lightweight hand vac, weighing in at just 4 pounds. It is well-designed featuring an easy-grip comfortable handle. It operates easily with a fingertip-access on/off toggle switch. The manufacturer indicates that the powerful onboard motor makes this a fast cleaner. With a multi-level filtration system, using two different filters (a pleated one past the motor and an additional filter screen) there’s a lot going on in this small package. It measures 10 by 5 by 8 inches and comes complete with a 16-foot power cord and a 1-year limited warranty.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser at work?

Pet hair is not the easiest item to clean up. When it comes to using a vacuum to pick up pet hair, it is usually a challenge. Some vacuum machines push it around and some pick up most of the hair. This specific unit does probably the best job I’ve ever seen when tackling loose dog or cat hair on furniture. I was expecting something like normal performance with long hair, which is usually the easiest to clean up. The Bissell 33A1 mowed through a couch, and a rug covered in long hair from both a cat and a dog. Then came the real test – short hair.

If you own a dog with short hair, like a Boxer or Dalmatian, you will love this hand vac. As you know, those short hairs are like porcupine quills. They latch onto the fibers and do not let go. They even somehow work their way into the fabric of a couch. Well, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser hand vac not only grabbed the short hairs, it sucked each and every one of them out of wherever I pushed the vacuum. This product did a cleanup job on short pet hair I have never seen with any other vacuum cleaner – including several full-sized ones.

Empty Before Using

I do have a couple of tips and a criticism, though. For best performance with this hand vac, be sure to clean out the dirt container before you use it. In fact, get in the habit of emptying each time you use it. This keeps the suction power at the maximum and does not wear down the motor. A full or clogged dirt container will force the motor to over work. Plus, when you are not using it, stow the cord with the built-in wrapping system to keep it handy and to prevent it from tangling.

The only negative I could find with the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser was the design of the handle. I don’t find it to be ergonomically designed. As a result, when I push the hand vac forward to clean, it sometimes feels as if I may lose my grip and fling it across the room. I think it’s attached in the wrong place. For me, if the handle was on the front of the vacuum rather than the back, (as it is currently designed), I think it would be a little more comfortable to use for longer periods of time. However, it is a hand vac, so maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. Otherwise, this is a great handheld vacuum for pet hair, especially for pet owners of short haired fur babies who like to spend time om your furniture.
