With over a century of history, Hoover has been a standard pacesetter in the home cleaning product business. In the case of the Hoover Floormate SpinScrub, they have created one of the ultimate 3-in-1 combinations. This wood floor cleaner should occupy space in closets across the country, always ready for action.
The FloorMate is a tool that vacuums, washes and dries hard floors. It does this with an innovative Dual Tank Technology – which keeps clean and dirty water separate to ensure that every drop that touches the floor is clean and not recycled from used water being carried onboard.
The Hoover Floormate SpinScrub Brush system cleans efficiently without damaging the surface of your hard floor. Recommended for use on sealed hardwood, vinyl, tile and any other non-carpeted surface. It is easy to use featuring a simple mode selection where what you program it to do is what you will get.
The selections are marked Stage 1 Vacuuming, Stage 2 Washing, and Stage 3 Drying. It does not get any easier or more straightforward than that. There is also a fingertip Clean Boost Control that will allow you to add extra detergent where you want it to combat heavy traffic areas or tough stains.
This package comes complete with 30 hardwood floor wipes, a 16-ounce bottle of hardwood detergent, rubber wheels, a 27-foot power cord and a 1-year limited warranty. The beltless design makes this a quiet cleaner and the deluxe handle is meant to keep this product easy on you as you use it. And because it’s a Hoover, you are going to expect a quality item and the FloorMate delivers on that promise from the moment you plug it in.
Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub in Action
Well, because it’s a Hoover it’s not a toy. It is pretty easy to use and for my money, I am especially fond of the dual tank system. The dual tanks really make cleaning a lot easier than using a mop and bucket and having to stop partway through to empty the bucket and refill it with clean water. The FloorMate keeps that from happening.
The 13-inch wide cleaning path is nice so I don’t have to do a lot of extra passes. However, the entire unit is not very effective in small spaces. Think cleaning around and behind the toilet as an example.
That being said, the mop head design does mean you can clean to the edge of any floor and that scores points with me. It also does a bang-up job on the actual cleaning part. I like that I don’t have to buy a bunch of cleaning pads I’m going to end up throwing away after I’ve used them.
I like that I can use any kind of floor cleaner in it that I want – especially the ones I buy on sale. It also does not require much maintenance, and I can take the parts off that I want to clean and snap ‘em back in place easily.
The Downside
If there’s any other downside – in addition to not being very good at cleaning small spaces – I would have to say the weight of it is a concern. I personally like that it isn’t a lightweight product, but because it does have some heft to it, I’m probably not likely to pull it out each time there’s a small spill that I can just wipe up with paper towels. But, that’s me. You may wish to use it every chance you get.
